I'm a Huge Slacker and It Isn't Even Senior Year Anymore

Hey, guys.
I never meant to abandon my poor blog so hardcore, but here we are. I haven't posted on here since March. March! My main excuse is senioritis. I never, ever, ever thought I'd be someone who gives into senioritis but, man, I really was. I was doing a pretty good job at fending it off after first semester started but then April came around and I crumbled. I realized I didn't have much time left in the school year to spend time with my pals and enjoy and experience everything that high school still had to offer me. I panicked. My social life had never been a huge priority to me and that really freaked me out so I started making more time for my friends and, even though my academic life became harder, I wouldn't have changed that decision for the world.
I made so many new friends in the last 2 to 3 months of high school and I had so much fun. We had parking lot tailgates, went to boys volleyball games, "broke into" the school and "trashed" classrooms. It was awesome! Maybe none of that sounds too crazy or fun to you, but I've always been crazily focused on school, which, don't get me wrong, is a great and rewarding thing, but you have to make time to have fun, guys. You have to. Don't leave high school wishing you could have talked to more people or whatever. Don't leave with regrets because the next thing you know you're walking across the stage to grab your diploma wondering where the time went.
Senior trip was wonderful. San Francisco is my favorite city and I was just so happy to be back. It's just such a cute place with so much character and I was glad to spend time there with my friends. Our first hotel was right in the city and we had the most spectacular view. One of my favorite memories of the trip was cuddling with the Sad 1D Peeps (me, Gab, Raquel, Arianna) while we blasted One Direction and looked out at the city lights. Speaking of city lights, we were able to visit City Lights Bookstore, the bookstore where all of the Beat Generation poets met and hung out. It was crazy walking where Jack Kerouac once walked (He was such a babe. Sorry, he was.). Monterey is always a good time, especially with all those precious little sea otters. And Pismo was a dream. I think I'll make a separate post about Senior Sunset because to write all of my thoughts/fellow classmates' wisdom here would make this post wayyy too long. I might just make a whole separate post about Senior Trip, but for now let's just stick to a Senior Year Recap (Is that the right word for this?).
Spending five days or 120 hours with your best friends might sound like a good idea at first but, as much as I love those girls, it really isn't. By the end of Senior Trip and Grad Night, our whole class was kind of fed up with one another. Not fed up as in I-Hate-All-Of-You-Forever but fed up as in I-Haven't-Had-Any-Personal-Space-In-Days-And-I-Think-I'm-Losing-My-Sanity. That being said, everyone was able to pull themselves together for one more night together: graduation. It came way too quickly. I think it would have felt more significant if it didn't happen right after Senior Trip and Grad Night, but it honestly just felt like another event that was being thrown into our crazy schedule. It wasn't until I walked out of the building and heard the cheers of my classmates and watched them throw their caps that it really hit me. You could feel the emotions of joy and excitement and relief in the air. It was overwhelming. I just stood there soaking it in for a few minutes before I decided to find any of my friends and family. It still hasn't really registered that I'm done with high school and I don't think it will until college orientation or move-in day.
This summer is going to be an exciting one. I already leave for France tomorrow (!!!) with my French class and I won't be back until July. I'll be journaling my trip but I'm not sure if I should blog too? We shall see. In the meantime, I hope everyone's enjoying their summer so far and has big plans for the future!
