Freshman Year: And So It Begins

My first *official* week of college is coming to an end and, boy, do I have a lot to tell. Saturday the 17th was my move in day and two of my lovely best friends accompanied me to help carry my stuff and set up my decor. Saying goodbye to those hooligans and my family was hard, leaving me in a new place to start a new life. I took a deep breath and decided to play some music while I taped up the rest of my pictures. I opened up Spotify to discover that I wasn't connected to the internet. But, luckily, I remembered seeing a bunch of people in one of the rooms down the hall and I figured that one of them had to know how to connect to wifi.
That was my first of many trips to the common room where I met my hall mates for the first time. I've been blessed with some pretty incredible people to live with. They're witty, kind, and hilarious. I can really be myself around them and vice versa. There's nothing I love more than playing Uno and Jenga with them and having impromptu movie and karaoke nights that last until the early hours of the morning. And don't get me started on our eternal rounds of ping pong and Super Smash Brothers. We're going to have one hell of a fantastic year; I can feel it.
Part of moving to a new place is learning how to live there. Communal showers are an... adventure. You're not prepared for them. You need to form a strategy or else the next thing you know your clothes are on the floor in a huge puddle of water and you nearly risk flashing the people standing at the sink because you decided to use the shower right next to the door in plain sight of the mirror (not that I'm speaking from experience or anything....).
My classes really didn't begin until this week (the week following move in day counted as Week 0) and I'm already quite busy. French homework is an every day activity although, thankfully, it isn't nearly as challenging as Madame's homework (thus far, at least). I've been busy with student council as well, working hard to register voters and participate in national politics-related events with my commission.
Yes, I'm tired, but I'm glad to say that I've been having the time of my life. College is so, so, so much better than high school. It's a place where you can be yourself freely and indulge in all of your passions and find new ones. You can join clubs (ha ha), work out, and participate in activities because there is always something fun and exciting going on like a concert or bonfire or free yoga lesson.
I hope to be able to share as many college stories with you as possible and I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as I enjoy experiencing them. But, until then, keep doing what you do and thanks for reading.
Much love,
Sasha
P.S. I have to write another blog for my Humanities Core class! If you'd like to read my posts on there as well, then you can find a link here!
